Post: Welcome

For The Love of Humanity

As we adapt to a new way of life, and a shrinking sense of freedom after multiple lockdowns, I think it is safe to say we are all craving our normal lives back. But will we ever fully return to our old lives?

With lockdowns forcing us home, only able to talk to our friends and families through facetime or zoom, we are all missing that human contact. Over the years, with the popularity of social media platforms rising, we have all become used to communicating through our screens. Tinder, bumble and other online dating platforms have replaced old fashioned dating. Whilst our parents may have met at a school or bar, our generation are more likely to match with a partner online. However, with the pandemic taking away our freedom to go out and have face to face contact with others, will we return to the old fashioned way of dating? Aren’t we all sick and tired of talking through screens now?

With the end of lockdown looming and spring quickly approaching, everyone is desperate to go out and socialise. So can we expect to see a change in the way we date and value our relationships? With series like “normal people” romanticising the old fashioned love story and absence of online drama, the tinder love story becomes increasingly less desired. Being locked in our homes for almost a year has had us all overthinking and day dreaming about a post lockdown future, reuniting with the people we love. Now that we have all experienced the absence of socialisation and human comfort, will we start appreciating eachother a little more when we reunite? Will we stop delaying our future because it’s so uncertain? And will we all finally realise what is truly important in life?

Is it time to stop hiding behind a screen and get back to real life?
